A circular histogram generator

Rose diagrams, or circular histograms are useful for displaying discontiniuity orientation data typically gathered from geologic field studies. Discontiniuities include fractures of all types, faults, bedding planes, etc. This particular program sorts uni-directional data such as the dip/dip direction of bedding planes. Bi-directional data, such as strike/dip, is not yet implemented.

> Why was this written?

At the time, the Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) packages did not have the type of diagram necessary for displaying certain types of orientation data. Commercial packages were too expensive.

> Using Rose...

Rose is invoked via command line options. Read the source for canonical description.

> Obtaining Rose...

The program is currently distributed as c source code. There should be little trouble compiling on most unix platforms under gcc, including linux. There is a possibility that the program may get packaged for the debian linux system. Others are welcome to try and compile for NT, Mac, Be, whatever.

I would appreciate pointers to any other geo-software copyrighted under the GPL.
